What is Brachioplasty?

You have heard of a breast lift before, but an arm lift is another popular procedure that has become increasingly popular over the last several years!

An arm lift, or Brachioplasty, is a procedure that gives patients the look of beautiful, toned arms with the help of surgery. Everyone has heard the term “batwing” to describe loose skin under one’s arm that may jiggle or wave when the arms are lifted. This issue can affect anyone, even those who are thin and toned. It is caused by loose skin or fat deposits on the arms that cannot be fixed with diet and exercise alone. Brachioplasty can tighten, lift, and smooth the skin and tissues of your arm for a sculpted shape and remove stubborn fat deposits.

Think you may be a candidate for brachioplasty? Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • Am I currently at a healthy weight?
  • Do I have a large amount of loose skin on my upper arms?
  • Do I have any serious medical or health concerns?
  • Do I have realistic expectations regarding plastic surgery?

The recovery from brachioplasty can last about two weeks. You will have some bruising and swelling following the procedure, but you will begin to see noticeable improvement right away. Any discomfort that you feel will linger as your arms heal. You will need to refrain from any strenuous activities for at least two weeks and wear the compression garments that will be given to you.
